Privacy and Data Policy

As a Photographer, I am committed to respecting and protecting your privacy. This data privacy policy outlines how I will use the information provided to me, the conditions it is stored, and the conditions under which I may disclose it toothers.

What data do I collect?

For events or photoshoots in which I am asked to cover for you, I will collect your first and last names, event date, location information, and contact information. This is the data I require to effectively communicate and execute the agreed-uponwork. This information is stored on my private email server and an encrypted desktop folder to which only I have access.

For photos taken in a public space for non-commercial and artistic use, only the date and time of the photo are recorded. This is done in order to preserve the anonymity of any individuals in the photograph and to ensure GDPR compliance.

If you leave a comment on my portfolio website, your personal information may be recorded by Disqus. This is the service that provides the commenting feature, which is GDPR compliant and has its own privacy policy for you to refer to. Please find their privacy policy here: https://help.disqus.com/en/articles/1717103-disqus-privacy-policy

If you use the Contact Me page on my portfolio website, your name and email address will be recorded. This is strictly to facilitate communication, which will not bepassed onto a third party and will be deleted once no longer needed.

How are your data and photos stored?

Photos are stored on duplicate SD memory cards on the day the photo is taken, which are then backed up onto an external hard drive for processing. SD cards are formatted to remove photos as soon as they are backed up on an external hard drive. Final photos will be distributed to you via Dropbox, a GDPR compliant online hosting service, in a password-protected folder dedicated to you. I will then retain the photos for a year on this service, following which I will then delete the folder.

Information such as the date and the photo sequence number is always recorded in the photo name. If applicable, the name of the event and of any clearly identifiable individuals in the photo will be included in the photo name.

How is your data used?

For data collected for the above-mentioned event and photoshoot conditions, I will use the data to communicate with you to execute the agreed work. It will not be shared with a third party without your express permission.

For photostaken in a public space for non-commercial and artistic use, your personally identifiable data is not recorded at any stage in the process at all in order to ensure anonymity.

How are your photos used?

For anonymized photos taken in a public space for non-commercial and artistic use, I freely share the photos on my website portfolio, Instagram, and Twitter. I may use these photos on my business card at my discretion.

For events and photoshoots, I will seek your approval on a selection of photos to share on the aforementioned platforms prior to their use.

My portfolio website is hosted by Format, which also handles photo storage strictly for display in my portfolio. This service is GDPR compliant. Please find their privacy policy here: https://www.format.com/privacy_policy

No personal information, apart from the agreed-upon photos, is stored on Format’s services.

In both instances, this use is required to run my business. Any images used in these ways will be stripped of any identifying data in their photo name or metadata. A short, anonymized caption may then be included if posted digitally.

In some cases, I may choose to offer my portfolio photos as prints. In this case, individuals will have the ability to purchase these prints from my portfolio website. The photos that are offered for sale are strictly anonymized. Photos taken during events or photoshoots which I am asked to cover will not be offered for sale unless explicitly approved by the event organizer and the individuals directly identifiable in the photo.

What are your rights?

You have the right to access, amend or erase the data that you have provided me with. You also have the right to request that any photos that I share on my portfolio or social media be taken down. These rights can be requested at any time. Please let me know if you need to check anything or if you would like to have anything removed.
